Is Fortnite: Battle Royale Still Alive?

You've most likely heard of the famous video game, Fortnite: Battle Royale, even if you've never played it. Unlike many other video games, it got heavily publicized by the press and gamers who weren't as found as celebrities raised to the top. But the real question is, is the fad going to end or has it already ended? It's been out for over year now (September 26, 2017) and this fad has unusually lasted for a long time. So we're going to figure out, Is Fortnite in the grave or is it lively jumping around in circles?

Epic Games is too Desperate for more Add-ons

Recently, Epic Games has been adding many new items and game modes into the game. But, by doing this, you can tell Epic Games is trying hard to keep Fortnite alive and make as much money as they can before Fortnite isn't popular anymore. This isn't a terrible idea for attracting more customers or to keep existing customers (You can buy V-bucks in the game for real money that you can use to buy new cosmetics that appear in the item shop). But adding so many items into the game sometimes hinders the experience of the game. Some items are sometimes too powerful or maybe there's a glitch that messes up the game, so some players decide to just drop out of the game because it isn't enjoyable anymore.

When Fortnite came out, like most games, it was very simple with a simple map and basic weapons. It was a time of "We'll win the next game. There isn't any overpowered weapons or people who play 24/7." Now that's totally the opposite, which makes people drop out of the game. Overall, Epic games trys to keep their customers with new and improved features, but it also has made many people leave the game Fortnite lying in the dark, dusty corner of their basement, never to used again.

As you see in the chart, Fortnite has skyrocketed on the total amount of users that play the game over the past year. It began with only about 1 million and in a year, it hit the 200 million user mark.

Obviously, the charts don't tell everyone about how people feel about the game or how many people stopped playing the game, but the charts do add that there was major growth from the very start of Fortnite to around what the date is now (The chart is only 2 months off). Anyway, charts like this one do help you find the statistical numbers of the number of players playing the game, and do hint a clue to finding if Fortnite is still alive. And the charts especially help Epic Games (The ones who want to keep as many players as they can for more cash flow). 

To sum it up, Epic Games has hinted from adding so many new features that Fortnite could die off soon, so trying to keep as many players as possible is something to keep it alive. But, the charts do show that there was significant growth of players from when it began to around 2 months ago. But the charts also don't show how people are feeling about the game, even if they play just because their friends are online. Fortnite hasn't really died off yet, but possibly in 9 months to even a few months from now, it could possibly happen.
