The Emerging Brawl Stars Youtuber, Kairos-Time
If you play Brawl Stars or you just like to watch the game, you probably have a favorite Youtuber that you mostly watch. Today, we're going to talk about a specific Brawl Stars Youtuber, KairosTime, and how he tries to support his family and himself on his dream job, making videos on Youtube, especially videos on the game Brawl Stars. He's done Brawl Stars tips, Brawl Stars gameplay, and Brawl Olympics, which tests different characters' speed, strength, etc. KairosTime somehow got to his 150,00 subscribers (currently), so let's see his story and how he's going on his dream job. On August 12th, 2016, he created his first video on Clash Royale, the game that he couldn't stop playing. But of course, like any first youtube video on a channel, it wasn't that great. He soon took the video down from his channel and he even makes fun of himself that he couldn't even say his channel name correctly.
He began his channel with literally no equipment for making videos and not even any experience in the video-making industry. He borrowed a microphone from a friend, just to have his voice in videos. And you need a logo to represent your brand, so his sister, being a graphic designer, created his logo and his channel art for his Youtube channel. Since he was on a low-budget, he created homemade thumbnails for his videos that didn't look so great. But despite the many downsides of being on a low-budget for a start-up youtube channel, he loved creating videos on the game Clash Royale that he was addicted to. Quickly, that addiction to Clash Royale changed to him being an addict to Youtube.
Finally, on December 18, 2016, he got a webcam. He had said, "The cringe was only going to get worse." He began making videos on reacting to challenges or gameplay and he even made some Clash Royale acapella songs. One of his videos was featured in-game, on Clash Royale. With that much publicity, it quickly became his most watched video on his channel. He also was invited to the Crown Championship Global Series as a guest. I didn't know what that was, but it's actually an event hosted by Clash Royale where many Clash Royale players battle each other to earn prizes and try to get first place.
Let's go forward in time and go to when Brawl Stars was released. He had been waiting for this game. He borrowed his friends iPad to play Brawl Stars because it wasn't available on Android yet and wasn't globally released. It was still in beta. After a month, he had to give his friend back the iPad. His joy in playing the game was over. Four months later, he bought an iPad and he finally was able to play the game again after 4 months of just wanting to play the game.
During his journey of making videos for his channel, he made videos of him stuffing his face with marshmallows, making bear noises, playing Brawl Stars matches with his friend Lex, and making guides to help the confused beginner Brawl Stars players who know nothing about the game. And from all of this, he thinks the weirdest part of making videos is that he found alternate personalities about himself that he didn't originally know about himself. For example, the cringe that he might do in a video.
9 months ago, he was invited to stream the Brawl Stars Global Launch in Finland. It may sound like Brawl Stars was going to be launched, but there was a possible chance that it could be discontinued or in the gaming world, killed. At the beginning of his channel, he thought youtube would just be a hobby for him, filling in time for videos between work and other activities.
Before he went to Finland, he thought the other YouTubers at the event were not going to treat him like he was a star because he thought the other YouTubers were living a dream job and he wasn't. He was completely wrong about his prediction. Everyone at the event was just ordinary people who were living extraordinary lives. At some conversations, he was treated like he was the celebrity/star. His expectations were totally different from what he actually experienced.
Two conversations at the Finland event changed his mindset and thinking about what his channel was all about. The two conversations were with Youtubers, Clash with Ash and Galadon Gaming, who were both diehard Clash Royale fans. They taught KairosTime that he could fulfill his Youtube dream with a lot of work and a little cringe (just to keep the viewers watching). Once he came home from Finland, his goal was YouTube, while before it was a fantasy.
At the time, Brawl Stars was not global yet, so his audience would be much smaller than what it could be. There were other options such as changing his audience or play a different game, but those options were not something he was in favor to do. He just waited until Brawl Stars was globally released.
When all of this was happening, he was in his first year of graduate school for a degree in Physical Therapy. Between school and everything else in his life, there was very little to no time for his Youtube channel. Also, the money he was making from YouTube at the time was not close to enough to support his wife and two daughters as well as tuition for school.
The one thing that was stopping him from YouTube was school. Physical Therapy was a job that was just going to be able to support his family and he was interested in Physical Therapy. It was never his dream job like YouTube was. He began getting poor sleep because of him making videos late at night. He says "I'm usually very happy, but the most depressed time of my life might've been when I was doing YouTube and school at the same time." He barely passed his finals at the end of the school year and summer brought him back from the dead. He finally was able to get enough sleep and carry on Youtube videos without the depression that he felt during the year. Summer really did save him.
During the summer, KairosTime and his friend Lex met some Supercell Developers. Still, Supercell was not ready to launch Brawl Stars globally. On the first day of school, his face instantly drooped. His wife asked him later that day, "Do you want to drop out?" He was able to get a 1-year absence from school which he is currently in now and he is currently burning through his savings to help his dream.

On December 12, 2018, Brawl Stars was released and he was ecstatic that this happened. He was finally able to grow his channel to the full potential that it could be and his dream might just become a reality. He did just hit 150,000 Subscribers on YouTube.
